Which for a Free Range Priest, means reading more amazing, inspiring things about God, the church, the universe, and running.

God stuff

‘The Story That Holds Us: What Andrew Root Taught Me About Faith and Narrative’, by Loren Richmond Jr. “When I trust that I’m a part of God’s bigger story, I’m less focused on making my own way and more intent on finding my part and trusting God to show me the path’.
‘AI Will Change What It Is to Be Human. Are We Ready?’ by Tyler Cowen and Avital Balwit . I would say we are ready - if we believe that we are made in the image of God and our identity as humans is not dependent on what we do or produce (which is why I put this under ‘God stuff’).

Church stuff

‘A Puzzle: Religious Importance, Religious Attendance and Education’ by Ryan Burge. I probably share more writing from Ryan Burge than from anyone else, because his church statistics are just so incredibly helpful. If you’re a minister, you need to keep up with the facts of religious belief and church life in this country. There’s no one better at doing this than Burge.
‘Digital Healing’ by Fr. Tim Yanni. Social media ministry. The medium and the message.

Other stuff

‘Why Therapists Should Pay Attention to the Brené Brown Rebrand’ by Chris Hoff. ‘Brené Brown’s pivot shows us something important: the next chapter of therapy isn’t just about the clinic. It’s about where therapy goes when it leaves the office.’

YES. And I would add, this awareness is very important for ministry as well. In fact, Brené Brown is an Episcopalian. I think she leans into faith practice, as well (or she did).
‘On Marriage’ by Jen Pollock Michel. Living the life of an elder.

What I wrote this week:
