Where's the Good Stuff this week?
Friday 10/17/25 roundup of what I've discovered on Substack
‘Good Stuff’ = blog posts I’ve read this week that inspired, educated, entertained, or moved me.
Ok, I’m not shy about it: it’s my birthday today! I’m entering my last year before I turn 60, so I’m planning on enjoying my last day in the 50s age category! 🎂
Which for a Free Range Priest, means reading more amazing, inspiring things about God, the church, the universe, and running.
Here’s this week’s roundup:
God stuff
‘I Thought I Didn’t Need God. I Was Wrong', by Charles Murray. “Why is there something rather than nothing?”
‘When the Soul Forgets to Breathe’, by That Episcopal Priest. ‘Sabbath is the reorientation of reality itself.’ The reality that we are beloved.
Church stuff
‘Why we’re tempted to - and shouldn’t - embrace decline’, by Ben Crosby. The church needs to be growing.
‘On Being a Hotel Monk’, by Chad Brooks. Christian practice where you are. Literally.
Other stuff
‘How Many Members Should a Church Have?’ by Ryan Burge. Technically, this is church-related, but it’s really about numbers. And it’s an incredibly important read for those of us in ministry.
‘The Man Who Put the World in a Box’, by Marc Levinson. How the invention of the humble shipping container made today’s world possible.
What I wrote this week:
‘He forgave the unforgivable after hearing my sermon’. Forgiveness can heal us - and the whole world.
And finally…

Thanks for the inclusion!!!
